Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests

Recently, Mercer University's local students majoring in education completed projects designed to help students and parents prepare for the CRCTs elementry school students are required to take every year.

Each Mercer Univeristy student was required to choose a grade level from Kindergarten to 5th Grade and prepare a project appropiate for students in that grade. If your child is currently enrolled in Kindergarten through 5th Grade, you may select the corresponding link to these grade appropiate projects and browse the projects. They are certain to help your child understand part of what will be required when testing time rolls around.

Most people want to know, "What is the purpose of the CRCT?"

The CRCT testing is required by the state of Georgia to determine educational progress. The CRCT is designed to measure how well students acquire the skills and knowledge described in the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS). The assessments yield information on academic achievement at the student, class, school, system, and state levels. This information is used to diagnose individual student strengths and weaknesses as related to the instruction of the GPS, and to gauge the quality of education throughout Georgia.
