Award Books
Educators, librarians, and parents all enjoy their children or patrons reading books of outstanding quality and composition. With so many books being published it can be difficult to ascertain what is quality and what is just quantity. Many organizations dedicate a lot of time to weeding through the masses of new books to find the real gems, and we have provided links to some of those outstanding organizations below. Take the time to search through these organization's websites, and we are sure you can find a quality book for your child or teen.
Caldecott Medal Winners. Picture Books for Young Children
Newberry Medal Winners. American Literature for Children
2011 ALA's Notable Children's Books. The Best of the Best for each year as determined by The Association for Library Service for Children
Georgia Center for the Book. The inaugural list of books for young readers was compiled in 2010 by the Center for the Book’s advisory council members.
National Book Awards 2010. Award books selected by the National Book Foundation on a yearly basis.
Dr. Suess Award. The Geisel (Dr. Suess) Award is given annually to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished American book for beginning readers.
DCF Award. The Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children's Book Award has honored quality literature for children for 50 years.
