The Whigham House, located at the corner of Ninth Avenue and Main Street, faces the railroad tracks on one of Eastman's oldest residential streets (formerly known as Railroad Avenue). Built in 1897, the house was purchased shortly thereafter by T. H. Edwards, a local businessman. He remodeled it by adding six Ionic columns to the front, replacing bay windows throughout the downstairs with ornate, leaded glass fixtures and restructuring the wrap-around porch, among other things. The two-story residence consists of 16 rooms for a total area of 6000 square feet. After Mr. Edwards' death (circa 1946), the house remained in the family as rental property until 1998, when it was sold to Stephen Whigham. Beginning in February, 1998, the house was thoroughly renovated and completed by December, 1999.
